Sunday, April 21, 12:45pm: All Souls Lunch
Following the second service, and in Pierce Hall, All Souls Lunches offer the opportunity to talk about the service while mingling with the larger church community and eating lunch. To make the lunch happen, we need VOLUNTEERS! To sing up to help cook, serve, or clean-up, go to: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/904084EA9A7292-asclunches. As a volunteer, you eat for free (normally cost is $7)! Note that another All Souls-wide lunch is tentatively scheduled for April 7.

Monday, April 22, 7:00pm-9:00pm: WIN Earth Day Stormwater Jobs Action
Young Souls members will join Washington Interfaith Network members from every ward in the city to show our support for better storm-water management– we will encourage the city to support good/green jobs for residents, reduced storm water pollution in our waterways, and less flood-prone cities. Join YS and AS folks for a drink afterward.

Join the All Souls community for a Wednesday night service in the church sanctuary entitled “Resilience.” Vespers services include singing, meditation, silence, reflection, and spiritual practice and are led by Intern Minister Abbey Tennis. Musical help is needed for each service — come at 6 pm if you would like to join the choir or play an instrument for the service!

Escape to the Shenandoah Valley for social and spiritual activities/workshops as well as picturesque hiking, challenging ski slopes, dance parties, hot cocoa, cooking, baking, and socializing with UU Young Adults! Volunteer opportunity! Volunteers are needed for decorating, coat check, selling tickets, tending bar, and clean-up. All planning to attend are encouraged to volunteer for an hour. Join the google group for more information on volunteering.

Abbey Tennis, the great new Intern Minister, will be leading a mid-week service in the All Souls Sanctuary entitled Awakening: the Enlightenment of Buddha.

Sunday, November 18, 7:30am, 9am, 11am, or 1pm: Thanksgiving Food Collection
Young Souls is taking a leadership role in the annual Thanksgiving Food Collection. On Saturday, Nov. 18th, about 80 volunteers will pack Thanksgiving meals for 500 families in our area. We need Young Souls volunteers to help with setup and to serve as volunteer coordinators/troubleshooters on the day of. Join the google group for more information and to sign up for a time slot (7:30 is set up, the others are 2 hour shifts). We also need people to help with pre-event publicity and planning– have some ideas, want to help?

Sunday, November 18, right after second service: Super Covenant Group!
A covenant group without a long-term commitment. Come to share, bear witness to others, and discuss topics related to the church’s sermons and congregational focus. The group will meet at the church (room information to be announced in the coming weeks), and start 15 minutes after the conclusion of the second service. Retreat Announcement and October Events!

First, a reminder about the YOUNG SOULS FALL RETREAT. We had an excellent time at our retreat last year, when we went hiking, had a bonfire, had many musical singalongs, and led our own service together on Sunday morning. This year’s retreat promises to be another great opportunity to get to know other Young Souls and grow your current relationships! The second annual Young Souls Fall Retreat will be November 9-11 at Westmoreland State Park. Sign-up will begin through the church website this week. Watch for an upcoming e-mail and keep an eye on the Facebook event for additional information on signing up. Size is limited to 40 people and registration closes November 1 so be sure to register soon. For more information please join the google group.

Help sort and bag produce from local farmers markets to stock Bread for the City’s pantries (2pm-4pm). Then join volunteers for a Slow Food potluck to celebrate the dedication of a garden bed on BFTC’s rooftop (4pm-6pm). Kate S. and Christina are planning to be there, how about you?
